KEC Presents – Beavers with Guest Speakers Tom Coleman & Karl Erickson

Two amazing local experts will talk with us about beavers in Kitsap County.

  • Tom Coleman facilitates the Little Anderson Creek Watershed Working Group at Newberry Hill Heritage Park where several families of beavers reside. Tom is a Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Certified Beaver Relocator as well as a history teacher for Central Kitsap School District.
  • Karl Erickson, with degrees from the University of Washington in Environmental and Nuclear Engineering, teaches WSU Extension Stream Stewards Classes and is a board member for the Friends of Newberry Hill Heritage Park.

Following discussion with Tom and Karl, enjoy the movie, The Beaver Believers. The Beaver Believers are five scientists and a spicy hairdresser who are tackling climate change one stick at a time. They share a common vision: restoring the North American Beaver, the most industrious, ingenious, bucktoothed engineer, to the watersheds of the West.
