Celebrate KEC’s 5th anniversary and a great win for forests in Kitsap—the transfer of the Eglon Forest from the state’s Department of Natural Resources to Kitsap County!
Location: Historic Eglon Schoolhouse, 33777 Eglon Rd NE, Kingston
Date: Saturday, September 30
Time: 2-5 pm

Bring:
- Pot luck picnic contribution — salad, vegetables, pizza, soup, sandwiches, casseroles, you name it! We love to eat!
- Beverage: Bring your own beverage, including WATER (Schoolhouse has no drinking water)
- A nature treasure: Have a special treasure (rock, leaf, ….) from nature? Bring it to display on the Nature Table
- Cash or check for bid on the silent auction item
Rough Schedule of Activities
1 pm: Set up (volunteers needed)
2 pm: Sign in, pick up ticket for Door Prizes, put potluck and nature treasure on appropriate tables; View the silent auction item – Beautifully framed photo art print by KEC member, Sue DeArman. Enjoy the food!
2:30 pm: Comments from special guests including:
- Commissioner Christine Rolfes
- Maia Ostrom (Dawn to Dusk Farm)
- David Upthegrove, Candidate for state Commissioner of Public Lands
3 pm: Cake and Congratulations Comments from special guests involved in the Trust Land Transfer (TLT) program and the Eglon forest transfer. Cake from Monica’s Waterfront Bakery
3:15 pm: Door Prize drawings and announcement of high bid for the photo print.
3:45 pm: Time to Move: Get to know the Eglon Community
- Walk across the street to Fat Turnip Farm—farm produce and u-pick flowers
- Stroll the beach at Port of Eglon (ample parking)
- Walk in Eglon forest (on right side of Hoffman Road; limited parking at trailhead; respect peace and privacy of neighbors)
5:00 pm: Clean up (volunteers needed)
