Kitsap County is at risk from mismanaged and uncontrolled development. This threatens our quality of life, our natural areas, and the environment. The Comprehensive Plan under consideration by your Kitsap County Commissioners will determine if we save the things that make Kitsap County special, or if we allow it turn into just another suburb of large residential developments and shopping centers.

The Comprehensive Plan will determine where and how land in the count will be used, and what will be saved. For too long, large corporate developers – mostly out of state – have had an outsized say in Kitsap County’s future. Their main concern is making the most profit possible with no concern for our community, then leaving.

This is our single most important opportunity to have our say in the future of our county. Our county leaders need to know we want to Keep Kitsap Green through thoughtful progress that:

It’s important they hear from you. You can copy-and-paste the message below, use your own words, or simply tell them “Keep Kitsap Green” – they’ll get the message!

Also, spread the word to your neighbors, friends, and through our social media – we need to have a bigger voice than the corporate developers.

Dear Commissioners:

As a resident of Kitsap County, I ask you to implement and enforce a Comprehensive Plan that will protect the environment; preserve a healthy balance of natural, rural, and urban areas, and advance Kitsap County through thoughtful progress that benefits all who live here.

Protect the environment

The environment is the space shared by all living things. Our forests and other natural areas, waterways and wetlands, and shorelines work together to create a thriving and resilient habitat for plants, animals, and people and to reduce the effects of a changing climate.

Preserve a healthy balance of natural, rural, and urban areas.

The environment also includes are rural and urban communities. Maintaining a balance of natural, rural, and urban areas protects our quality of life, gives us choices in how and where we want to live, supports smart economic growth, and provides Kitsap County residents with jobs and commerce, as well as educational, recreational, and cultural activities.

Advance Kitsap County through thoughtful progress that benefits all who live here – including wildlife.

We do not oppose development, but we believe it should be measured by its total impact on the community and environment, and that true progress benefits everyone.
